No Role is Too Small For Poppy

Embracing Calla presents a compelling narrative that dives deep into the essence of perception and misunderstanding of human relationships. I’d like to share a tidbit about Poppy, exploring the nuances that make her both compelling and complex.

Planting the poppy seeds:

Poppy isn’t in the novel a lot, maybe four times, but she’s mentioned all the time.

The first encounter with her you really see Calla’s perspective of her. The perfect golden child of the six siblings. Everything’s handed to her on a silver plater. Everything Calla has to work hard for Poppy is just given.

There’s this part in the novel where you start to see Calla’s hypocrisy. When she tells Benedict that family’s forever and he should treat Sebastian better.

Remember that Benedict and Sebastian are not even related. Calla’s “Do as I say, not as I do” starts to kick in. Even though she knows the truth about everything that has happened she doesn’t want to believe it. So she doesn’t, leaving Poppy still the blame for everything when the blame clearly belongs on someone eles.

You have this brief moment where you think Calla and Poppy are going to be okay, but it’s just not meant to be for them. Luka is just too damn good, and you’ll find out more about him next week. However, he has them both under his control and Calla knows this, but still can’t get past her issue with Poppy. Just like Benedict has with Sebastian.

In Conclusion:

I like to take Poppy further, but as of right now she’s not in the second book much either. I have a lot of plans for the third/final book for Poppy and if you didn’t know already I’m a foreshadower. So I like planting the poppy seeds along the way.
