In Embracing Calla, readers are introduced to the intimidating character of Loukas “Luka” Lubrov. A person whose story is whatever he chooses it to be. His story for Calla is he was born in Russia on October 24, 1984, and his family now lives in Seattle. Luka’s about total control, complete power, and manipulation to a degree Calla never saw coming.
Physical Description:
Luka is perfect and he will let you know it. His hair is dark clean back and sides with every hair on the top perfectly placed. His eyes are dark and deceiving always looking for ways to control. He strives for perfection and he will do anything to look the part.
Manipulation at its finest:
Luka meets Calla while he’s in med school but she’s only 19. He gets lucky when their sandwiches get mixed up at a local sandwich shop. Luka sees the vulnerable girl and takes full advantage by sitting beside her and gets to know her but she knows nothing about him. Calla gives him all the built-up sibling rivalry and that’s all he needs to start his manipulation.
The Brain Doctor:
It’s a little ironic that someone who likes to exploit the brain is a powerful neurologist. He has his own practice in Mountain View and is highly successful.
The Wedding that Broke Hearts:
Luka married Calla’s sister, Poppy a year after their daughter Abbey was born. Luka and Poppy are now expecting their second child… or are they?
In Conclusion:
A lot is unknown about who Luka is and if Luka is even his real name. His power over Calla grows throughout the book and keeps growing throughout the series. Luka’s complete story has barely been scratched. He just gets worse and he’s nothing anyone believed him to be.
